Welcome to Year 6!

We are Corncrakes class (Mr Frost).

Conflict - Wars of the World (February to May)

Wow! Our third unit of the year already. One we know many of the children really enjoy. During this historical theme, we will mainly focus on both WW1 and WW2. We will learn about how both of these wars started; which countries were involved; what it was like to be on the frontline; what impact the treaty of Versailles had on both Germany and Britain; the impact both the home guard and the women’s land army had on the war effort; what it was like to be a WW2 evacuee and what the holocaust was and what impact this had on different people. We are also hoping to run a trip to Gressenhall Museum where we will fully immerse ourselves as evacuees for the day.

Reading and Spelling

In Year 6, we encourage the children to read as often as possible! All children have their own Reading Ramble! Children are encouraged to complete the challenges in their Reading Ramble based on their home/school reading book. Children can also write about their own reading within the Reading Rambles and we would love to see lots of parent comments about their child's reading! All challenges will be updated at the start of each half term! Please remember to bring them into school each day so we can also read with you!

Spellings for Spring 2 have been sent out! Please find them below or on Dojo! If you would like another paper copy, please ask and we will send one home!
