Mental Health and Wellbeing

We are passionate about Mental Health and Wellbeing at Swaffham Primary Academy. It is integral to everything we teach, our routines and decision making. It is woven within our curriculum and we will also celebrate special events.

We look at ways to promote and protect our Mental Health and Wellbeing with our pupils, staff, families and community through four lenses:

Mind    Body    Heart    Environment

Our Mental Health Champion is Mrs Rice.

We know that mental health can be difficult to talk about, but just as we have varying health in our bodies, we also do with our mental health. It is really important to teach children how to protect their mental health, that we can all experience poor mental health and how we can support and sustain good mental health. Taking care of ourselves, being kind, fostering a can do attitude all help to enable us all to feel more positive about the day. Building resilience and independence is a huge part of this. Equally, it is just as important that we are all, child or adult, able to ask for help if we need it. Please take a look at the HOME link below with a list of local services to support mental health you can browse. If you do want to talk about any of these issues or you have any worries about your or your child's mental health please do get in touch. You can contact Mrs Rice our Deputy Head and Mental Health Champion, Mrs Curtis our SAFs liaison or your child's class teacher.
