At Swaffham CofE Primary Academy, our vision is to inspire children, their families and our staff to SHINE, LEARN, BELIEVE and BELONG so our children achieve their very best, leaving us as confident, happy, resilient learners. We believe that all children should have fun and valuable learning opportunities to experience a variety of hands-on practical art experiences. 

At Swaffham CofE Primary Academy our music curriculum aims to provide all students with a high-quality music education which engages and inspires them to develop a life-long love of music, increases their self-confidence, creativity, and imagination, and provides opportunities for self-expression and a sense of personal achievement. Modelled on the National Curriculum, we offer opportunities for students to develop their talents in all aspects of music including composition, singing and appreciation. We are members of the Norfolk Music Education Hub, with access to a Charanga license, CPD and curriculum support amongst others. 

Our Vision is that students will develop an ability to listen to, and appreciate a wide variety of music, including different styles, periods and cultures. As well as having opportunities to explore and express ideas and feelings about music, in a variety of ways. We will encourage active involvement in creating and developing musical ideas using voice and instruments and we will nurture a sense of group identity and togetherness through composing, rehearsing and performing music with others to an audience. Their experience with music will help to develop self-discipline and creativity and fulfilment through music. This will enable all students to access and develop an enjoyment of music which will sustain through their lives.

Our curriculum map allows pupils to enhance their knowledge and improve on their skills with each new topic they experience. Using the Norfolk Music Hub and Dimensions as an effective resource allows adults to create an engaging environment where skills can progressively develop. Not only is Norfolk Music Hub a resource, it also provides the children in Year 4 and 5 the opportunity to learn an instrument. Our lessons offer appropriate levels of challenge and include various opportunities for every learner to achieve.
